Default more speed out of my rxv

hello all, i just purchased a new to me 2008 rxv, first golf cart ive ever owned and i love it!! it is lifted 6" and has 23"x14" tires on it. my question is how can i get more speed? it runs 26 according to my phone gps, but not sure how accurate it is. the guy i boought it from refurbs them from golf courses and he said he programmed it already. but im not sure if its the freedom1 or 2 program ive been reading about. im new to all this stuff but want to learn. so would enlarging the battery cables do anything? i have access to 2/0 and 4/0 600v aluminium wire at work. would this worl and if so would it do anything noticeable? also i know there is a guy on here with a blue rxv that has high speed gears and claims 38, but i have bigger tires and was wondering how the low end would suffer on that? any help guys? and its great to finally be able to join this board. been trolling for a while, thanks guys

josh, I'm not a RXV guy, BUT, as far as the cables go.....that wouldn't do anything for you, and you CERTAINLY don't want to use AMUMINUM cables.

oh and btw......CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

At this point, any speed upgrades are going to kill power, with big tires, you dont want that. Rxv has no such thing as "freedom 2" (i dont think ezgo has any "freedom2" as far as speed goes, and i have worked at a yamaha & ezgo cart dealer for over 7 years), the freedom option in the controller =19 mph with stock tire size.

thanks nuke, i was thinking that could possibly be a no no, thats why i asked, i have access to copper also if that matters.

cg-yea while i was reading about the rxv's i saw somewhere here or on another major golf cart forum there was someone talking about a "freedom 2" upgrade but that was the first and only time ive heard of it, but like i said im a newb at this stuff so i wasnt real sure. i also have seen on forums that there were people who said you could adjust the "accelaration" of "sensitivity" of the throttle with the handheld programmers, was thinking maybe that would compensate for the high speed gears on the low end and take off, i would just rather spend 500$ on something else other than a programmer ill use a handfull of times

i guess basicly what are my options for performance on the rxv? just the freedom program and gears?

Your controller is rated at less than 300 amps, bigger cables will do nothing at all for you. Untill a bigger controller option comes along (i know of at least one who is working on it, but, dont hold your breath, no one really wants to be responsible for the braking duties done by the controller), "freedom mode" and gears are your only options. I think, based on the speeds you are getting now, you may already have freedom mode. You will want to avoid gears, they will kill your hill climbing power, even on slight hills speeds will suck.

Well if I hit a small hill at 38mph I don't think it would be that bad 😎 (that's what the guy that's has the high speed gears claims) have you ever ridden in a rxv with the freedom program and high speed gears?

bump, also anyone know anything about these hpevs, or does anyone else make a stronger motor? i know a lot of people talk about these carts and it seems they don't really know a whole lot about them because one person says theres nothing available and then that becomes the "response" theres members on here that say they know "tricks" and what not but no one ever says anything.

I have built "freedom mode" vehicles with gears, they go well over 30mph. Some of our customers complain about "zero speed startup power on a hill", and these customers have 10", 12", and 14" "street tires" not offroad tires. With larger offroad tires, and HS gears, it will have big troubles at low speeds on a hill. I know of nothing aftermarket motor or controller for the RXV that is currently for sale to the public, if you know of one, please clue me in. I have built hotrod 650 amp AC RXV systems that were not stock at all (motor or controller), plus i had to weld brake mounting points on the axle so i had a way to stop. That system was not for the beginner. If you think the info im giving is bogus, i invite you to get a HPEVS system for a TXT, and go for it, you will find that its not so simple to integrate all this stuff on a cart that had no brakes, no provisions for brake cables, no provisions for parking brake, motor doesnt fit on axle correctly, keyswitch and F&R on the same circuits. It is some work to integrate this stuff in a way that seems anything like a "factory built setup". Its not something i can describe in just a few easy steps.
