Cleaning batteries
I just bought some Gunk engine cleaner to spray on my batteries and before I did it I just wanted to make sure it was safe to use and is it ok to spray the batteries with a garden hose? A friend of mine said that's what he does and it works great but I don't want to take any sort of risk ruining anything under my seat.

Gunk is a degreaser. Do your batteries have a coating of grease on them? As for the garden hose go right ahead, but be gentle and use common sense.

No they don't have any grease on them but he did say that he saw a guy on youtube use it on his and it did a great job so he tried it himself and it worked good for him to. I just didn't know if it could hurt the batteries. I don't imagine it would seeing it is for an engine but I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried it or what do they do to keep their batteries clean.

Baking soda and water to clean the batteries. This will neutralize any acid on top.

X2 baking soda/water. Use a scrub brush after acid stops bubbling if desired. Wash batts down with hose when done. Might as well wash whole cart while you are at it. No water directly on controller.

I always use awesome right out of the spray bottle, let it sit a few, then use the hose. I do wrap the f/r switch with some plastic wrap so it dont get wet on my series cart

I'm getting ready to use the baking soda and water to clean off my batteries but need to know the ratio for my mixture. I'm planning on using a spray bottle if that is was works best? Or should I make a paste out of it?

Wal Mart has a spray can of battery cleaner in the battery area, works pretty good, foams up and foam changes color when it contacts acid.
