steering issues
Hi guys now that I have my new a wheels on my cart and have had the chance to take it for a spin. I have found that if it his a rut or bump it wants to take off in the direction of the bump. It's very hard to drive in a straight line always wanting to follow the shape of the ground. Any ideas on how to fix this problem.

Re: steering issues
You need to check the front wheel alignment. It should be 1/8" toe in. The best way to do this is pull wheel and use two straight edges to simulate wheel position then adjust tie rod ends as required.

Not trying to highjack this thread but what all do you have going on up front there? I assume aux batteries for sterieo, lights, etc. and charger port below. Can you elaborate as to what type batteries and OB charger. Just want to know what I might could fit up there. |

Re: steering issues
This is absolutely the correct way to measure toe in alignment
For years I had seen guys trying to measure tires and tread lines This is the correct and accurate way of doing it. Thanks for posting. |

Scotty
I would like to ask you one question. I have been measuring from the center hole in the front axle to the hub. Is this not the same measurement??? I'm a little thick headed, well maybe a lot. But it seems to me it's the same. |

Re: steering issues
I agree that's the best way to check for toe in adjustment although I have done it with the tires on by scribing a line down the center of the tire thread. Just know you won't be 100 percent accurate doing it that way but you should be "close enough"...I find most darting issues come from the king pins either being seized, seizing up, or worn bushings.

http://www.enersys.com/Genesis_EP_Batteries.aspx Your measurement method has a higher degree of error. Since you are measuring so close to center of the hub your 1/8" toe in would equal much more at the edge of the tire. I measure approximately where the front and rear of the tire would be if installed. I mark the straight edge so I can repeat it every time in the same place. |

Re: steering issues
Sportcoupe
Are the rear tires also take off?using the rear drum as a straight edge? Sorry for all the questions. Just need to get it right. |
