EZGO OEM dash meter, when to recharge?

On my 2002 EZGO 800E workhorse, EZGO has factory installed dash mounted battery monitor/voltmeter. It displays 10 LED bars. I'm assuming each bar represents 10 percent incriments, again, assuming. If that is the case, does the battery meter compensate for the fact that you should not discharge a battery more than 80 percent? Meaning, if it only drops "two bars", is it time to recharge? Or does the meter compensate for this, and recharge once the LED bars go down to 2 bars? Thanks for the help.

i wouldn,t let it get down past 60% than charge till charger shuts off.........you should be fine that way..................................

So am I safe to assume that those bars are representing 10 percent increments in capacity on the battery?

No.

The correct way is to measure the pack with a digital meter as each bar disappears. Then, and only then, can you make a correlation as to what the display really means.

I've read both the service manuals as well as the owners manual that ruredy sent me, but EZ-GO mentions nothing of this. Wierd, you think they would give a clear indication as to its operation. At least they do on everything else, IMO.

I assume you mean its blinking when your charging the cart?

I am attempting to determine at what state on the dash meter would mean to "pit" the cart and charge it. As of now I simply heed the advice of everyone here and simply charge after every use, regardless of time used...

No, what Andy MEANT to say was that when the cart becomes 80% DISCHARGED the LED's start to blink as a warning to "Get Me Charged!".

That proves my theory then that each LED bar indicates 10 percent of charge state. Going on what Andy is saying, discharging down to the last two bars it starts blinking, which is 80 percent discharged.

Then, with that being said, I shouldn't allow the battery meter to go below the FIRST TWO bars. From what I've read on here, the guys say not to allow the pack to discharge below 80 percent of its capactiy. They say 50 percent discharge state is hell on a battery pack.
