Default Hi Everyone....New to the Cart world.

Hi All,

I recently picked up an older (83) EZGO resistor cart, just for getting around the track in. Its a great little cart, but I have a question pertaining to the battery dates. I've done some research and learned of the dates on the posts. The problem I'm finding with the batteries in my cart are there is two sets of numbers. I have 6 Trojan 125's in the cart, on 1 set of posts are the markings B 0, now on the other side (negative) are the markings anywhere from C to L 7. Would these be batteries from 2000 or 2007?

Maybe they have be reconditioned?

This is a great sight with a wealth of information. I look forward to learning more.

Thanks,
Rick

Rick,

Sounds like 2007 batteries. Guys on here say year markings are on the negative post, and you stated anywhere from March 2007 to December 2007. Check voltage of each battery once fully charged and ensure they are all close to one another. A good thread on batteries is listed a the top of the forums, in the stickies. A wealth of info in there......

Thanks for the reply TWH,

I will check tomorrow to verify exactly what post has what markings on it. Although I'm pretty sure the 7's were on the Neg. side.

I got the cart a few days ago, drove it around the yard and it would barely move. Charged it until the charger shut down, drove it again and in 1 trip around the yard (yes, 1 trip) it would barely move again. I proceded to test each battery 4 of the 6 were above 6.2 volts but the remaining 2 were 3.4 and 5.2. I'm thinking I may be better off just starting off with all new batteries and cables.

Welcome to the forum Rick71...................

Make sure the batteries are full of water to just above the plates. If they are not full, add distilled water to to them.

the 6.2 volt readings are an indication that the batteries are down. Not fully charged.

According to your battery readings, the 2 weak ones are shot. (But check water in them) You may get by if you add only 2 good batteries.

Keep us posted.

Those could also be 1997 batteries.

The letter/number on the Positive terminal is the month/date the battery was made but not filled and shipped. The letter can be A through L. January would be A December would be L. The number is the day of the month. On the negative terminal is the month/year the battery was filled with electrolyte and shipped. The letter is for the month (A-L) ...the number is for the year.
