TXT no forward
I have a basic 36volt txt with f/w by the right knee. Reverse works fine but when in forward no slow speed and nothing until peddal is fully depressed then it leaps forward like super fast. goes way faster than reverse and no control at all. wires start smoking after just a bit when going forward.
Contacts on f/w switch were burned some I cleaned and put back togather. Same thing. Occasionally it will work ok for just a few minutes but then back to one speed forward at 2x atleast normal speed.???????????? Please help!! |

Re: TXT no forward
You probably need a new FNR. Once they overheat, the plastic that holds the contacts melts and the contacts sink, which causes more resistance, which causes more heat, etc.
When you say wires were smoking, were they thin wires or thick cables? Each cable end should be inspected, cleaned, and tightened. Don't overtighten battery terminals. Torque is pretty low. Get exact numbers from your battery manufacturer's website, but I think it's 10 or less ft-lbs. Don't confuse the info in in-lbs with ft-lbs. This won't solve the speed control problem, but sounds like they need attention. |

Re: TXT no forward
Smoking around f/r switch and cables hot. only in Forward. No control of speed in Forward. only in reverse.

Re: TXT no forward
Is it possible the motor could be bad?? or should forward be good if reverse works?

Re: TXT no forward
What drive type do you have?
Controller/Motor Type: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...go-guide-2.jpg http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...en-system.html If you have a series and it works in either direction, the motor's fine. |

Re: TXT no forward
Also if it's a series, I'm betting it's the FNR. If you have to replace it, buy a HD one. You won't be sorry.

Re: TXT no forward
Tighten the center nut on the FNR. The tighter it is, the better the contacts will make, but it may be too late. Dielectric grease or vaseline will help make it easier to turn and still be pretty tight.

Re: TXT no forward
I still don't understand your lack of control problem, but am merely pointing out a potential problem. While I love to blow stuff up, you may not, and if it's getting hot enough to smoke, it needs to be dealt with.

Re: TXT no forward
I have seen just the bad f&r cause the control problem more than once. Replacing the f&r fixed it.
