Default Welding battery trays

Other than making sure to ground near the weld point is there anything else I need to do to weld battery tray in an old EZ-GO. One tray is falling out where weld broke. The cart is somewhere around 30 years old. Fixing it for sister who has MS. It runs well but batteries are bad, so why out want to repair this problem.

I don't know if it's necessary, but I would unplug/disconnect wires and cables from the controller. Unless someone has welded without doing this, it might be cheap insurance.

Although the welder actually uses lower voltage than the golf cart does, but it cant hurt to disconnect it.
