Default Curtis controller swap

I need a controller for my Marathon 3 wheeler. Original is 1204-027. series, 275amp, 36volt, 0-5k potbox. Found one on ebay, 1205-201, series, 400amp, 36-48 volt, don't know throttle type, says it came from EZ-GO. Will it work? I know it's the longer body, but can probably remount it. Is there a Curtis list somewhere that tells you what all the model #'s are? Found one, but it doesn't cover 2 last numbers.

I use the FSIP (BGW sponsor) website to looks up the specs on Curtis (and other) controllers. The Reman section has the more complete list of Part #s

They list the 1205-201 as 350A - 36/48V - 0-5K, so the voltage and throttle type are right for your cart.
There is a 50A variance on the Amps, but whoever is right, it is higher than the 275A you have now.

I trust FSIP info far more than I trust anything posted on e-bay.

Added: Also, the Curtis 1204/5 manual lists the 1205-2xx family as 350A.

Thanx Johnnie, you're always a wealth of info. Right after I made that post, an alltrax AXE4844 popped up on ebay for $150. Didn't figure I was gonna beat that so I jumped right on it. This'll give me the bigger controller, and 2 gauge cables, we'll see if it handles the sand any better.

That AXE controller is programmable with multiple throttle types, so be sure to check what it is set for.

Cool, now you can go 48 volt and have a 3 wheeler that should tackle anything!

Except for corners, that is.

I love that 3 wheeler turn radius.

So do I! (Just gotta remember to slow it down in the sharp corners )

That's why my electric 3 wheeler is my "daily driver" cart, and not the CC in my avatar. Also why my current build of an old 2pg EZGO is another 3 wheeler.

Ok, you guys, how about a little more advice? What about the contactor? Alltrax has a real good download on matching components, and looks like I might as well go ahead and change the solenoid while I've got the potbox assy out of there.
they recommend either the White Rogers 586 or Allbright SW180 for the 400 amp controller. Looks like EVdrive has the best price, but they talk about WR "style" & SW180 "style" I'd bet they're Chinese knockoffs. What would you recommend?

I'd get ahold of scottyb and see what he recommends - his customer service is great and you know you're gonna get good stuff from him.

Also, since you're gonna have heavy cables, controller, and solenoid, you'll really want to get a HD FNR switch to handle the amperage - the stock one against all the other new components will limit the system like a 1/2" coupling in an otherwise 2" piping system.

I'd sure like to see one of the heavy duty F/R switches. One of the first things I did was take mine apart and see what kind of shape it was in. It looks brand new, and the contacts were very large. I think I've spent the budget this month, especially considering it was my mistake that blew up the controller.
I will look at ScottyB again.
