LED Dimer - OR - Slow Boat From China

Finally broke down and bought a dimmer for my LED headlights. The only time I'd use it is when approaching people at the lake fire pit. $3.39 plus free s/h is pretty darned cheap. I had a three position switch for my 55 watt fog lights, for parallel and series. I have a separate switch for my LED tail lights. I'm gonna remove the 3 position DPDT switch, move the tail light DPST switch to turn on both head and tail lights, and place the dimer pot where the tail light switch used to be. I'll only dim the head lights, not the tail light.

I'll have to see if I have a knob for the pot that matches my other knob.

I'm thinking I may leave the head and tail light switches where they are. I'll probably use the three position DPDT headlight switch to on (high), off, and on through the dimmer (low). I'll probably set the dimmer where I want it, and mount it behind the dash and not worry about adjusting it on the fly. I may mount the dimmer on the top of the front cowl, where I can adjust it by removing the EZ-GO emblem.

I'm reminded of several funny statements made by contractor over the years. "These days, you can get nearly anything over-nighted in a couple of days", and "I can have it shipped pretty fast over-ground (from the EU)."

why not use a foot dimmer switch ?

I could have, but I haven't driven a car with a foot dimer switch in forever. My horn/siren switch is on the floor. I still occasionally bump it by accident, when parked and changing tunes.

i see ..you are correct my horn and dimmer are side by side and i've honked when i wanted to dimm

I don't really need dims. It was easy with my halogens to run in series or parallel. For less than $4, I figured I'd give it a try. I generally just turn on my lights and don't dim, unless I'm blinding someone in front of me.
