EZGO Batteries

My EZGO has four AC Delco 1150 12 V Batteries that were new approx 2.5 years ago. I can now barely get through nine holes of golf before they start to go dead. What happens is the cart will slow to a crawl, I then turn off the key and am able to go again for approx 25-30 feet before having to repeat the process. I am able to get through nine holes (my course is a 9 holer) but on the way back to my place this starts to happen. I used to be able to go a couple of days on a charge. What can I do to revive these batteries? Am I overcharging? I plug in my cart all the time after use - I read somewhere this was the best procedure but now I am thinking maybe not. This is my first electric cart and it has been great up until now.

Its time for new batteries, try top tier batteries this time (trojan, us battery). If you have lights that draw off one battery, get a dc/dc convertor, so the load of the lights is drawn equally from all batteries instead of only one.

Have you checked the electrolyte level? Have you checked the batteries voltage during and after charging. Until you make some voltage measurements and check out a few things all anybody can do is guess.

Iceman----although the AC Delco 1150 is a heavy duty battery, it is not a battery for a golf cart. I am really surprised you were able to get 2.5 years out of them. On their best day they could never give you close to the range a good golf cart battery pack will. Not to pick on you but the 4 12volt battery arrangement has been proven to have less range than the 6 8volt or 8 6volt setups to begin with but to have truck type batteries makes the situation even worse. My suggestion is get some good golf cart batteries and your range problems should be history.

Plugging your cart in all the time after use is exactly the way to keep your batteries healthy.

That is what was in the cart when I bought it. What would have been in the cart originally as all the cabling and the trays look like it was made for four GRP31 batteries. Would I be able to get a bit more life out of my batteries if I charged each one individually with a smart charge battery charger?

What kind of cart? My guess is if it looks like it should have 4-12v then its an RVX which would come with 4-12v Trojan 1275s which are a golf cart battery. A popular upgrade on this site would be to go with 6-8v T-175's which would give you a greater range and longer battery life but does require a new battery tray and new cables.

I think you mean 4-12v other wise 4-8v is only 32v but yes 4-12v golf cart batteries will do you a lot better than any "heavy duty" or "deep cycle" making the switch to 6-8v would give you longer range and battery life.
