Default Proper Cart maintenance ?

Will some of you shop owners / cart vets give us rookies the run down on how to properly maintain our carts ? We need everything from battery maintenance to new battery break in instructions.

Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah - use distilled water in your batteries when you fill them. That'll add life expectancy to them

Got my batteries installed and charged, it took 8 1/2 hours. I then checked the water levels and got the water hose out and topped them all off, just kidding > I used distilled water ! The Trojan 105 plus batteries have a nice little water gauge/ring in them under each cap to help you get the water level right. I also took a Sharpie and wrote the date on one so I would know when they were installed the next time I replaced them, I won't be guessing when it was !

What do you guys use as a protectant on the battery post, vaseline, axle grease or the spray on type ? I have both of the top 2 products in the below pic, I'm guessing they would be fine to use during my maintenance.

Maybe I'm old school, but I've tried everything and I've just relegated myself to keep a close eye on all the connections and removing and cleaning regularly.

Everything I tried attracted dirt and crap so now I just rinse the batteries off with water after each use.
