Default Won't go in reverse

My 2000 TXT PDS has the F/R switch on the dash. Lately, it won't move when I put the switch in reverse. If I put it back in forward and move then back in reverse, it will go just fine. I don't smell anything burning. Is the switch going bad?

Possibly - pull the switch plate and clean the 3 spade connections on the back. note the color and location of the 3 wires.

Depending on where you are in SC it could definitely be corrosion. Salt air? When you put it in R does the beeper sound? If no, probably the switch, yes maybe something else.

Beeper sounds. Like I said, if you move forward first, it will do fine in reverse.

Hmmm. If I understand your last post, the beeper sounds when it doesn't go? I'm no PDS expert, but if the reverse beeper is beeping, yet no reverse motion, does that rule out the FNR switch?

If F/R is ok, what is next the controller?

First answer the question I posed. If it only beeps when it's working, you can try reversing the forward and reverse wires on the FNR. Hopefully the problem will move to forward, which will say you have a bad FNR rocker switch.

If the beeper is sounding then I think the FnR switch is probably ok. That said, reversing the wires is a simple free test..

Beeper sounds every time in reverse. I don't hear the solenoid every time, but the beeper sounds every time.

If the beeper sounds, you've eliminated the F/R switch. Run/Tow switch, Key switch and Reed switch.

If the solenoid clicks every time the pedal is pushed in Forward, you've eliminated the pedal microswitch.

If cart runs normally in Forward, you've eliminated the ITS.

That leaves the controller and the motor.

To eliminate the motor, switch the F1 & F2 leads on top of the controller.
If the cart now runs backwards, you've eliminated the motor.

------------
Toss a Alltrax DCX400 into it and it'll do about 24 MPH at 36V on stock height tires.
