Anybody had one of these d&d motors (D&D 170-006-0001) and what kind of speed increase did you see? I have talked to plumquick and they are backordered for a while. just looking to get input on best high speed motor and also some results you have gotten with the change. i will be using in 92 marathon 36v now but upgrading to 48v, have 700 amp controller and hd soelnoiod and f and r switch w/ 2ga wire.

Thanks
Stuart

Measure the tire height and give D&D a call.

The info they post for that motor on their website says you'll get about 21 MPH at 36V, but that is with 18" tall tires and 12.44:1 Gears.

The information posted on their website is with 400 amp control on 48v (not recommended for use with big tires).

Vehicle Speed: 24 mph
Torque Enhancement: + 5 %
Motor RPM: 5550
Peak HP: 10.8

I have 22x9x10 tires on it and i just put scotty's 700 amp kit on. my goal is to get in the low to mid 20's. that should be plenty for me but i dont want to lose torq, i have also seen amd motors and havent seen much on them didn't no if they were any good or not either.

On their web site it says that motor replaces the D297. I don't know what that means exactly. I have a D297. The charts when I bought it stated " speeds up to 20mph and 5% increase in torque with a 400 amp controller".

So, the motor would push my relatively heavy cart to 20mph (GPS) with just me on it. Tires are a measured 17.75" tall. However, it would take awhile to get there. In real world testing it was, in fact, slightly faster than a similarly equipped PDS cart with a "freedom plug". Again, It would take a little while but eventually my cart would start to walk away from the PDS.

At 48v my cart does a solid 22-23 mph and gets there quickly. When given a chance to wind out on a long stretch I have seen 24.9 on the GPS.

I think the motor is solid (durable). I've been running it for about 3 years of heavy use.

I'm satisfied with the motor for now but if I was to replace it I would be tempted to go PlumQuick.

Again, my motor is a GE D297. I didn't get it from D&D unless it is the same motor sold by a retailer who didn't credit D&D as the manufacturer.

Physically measure the tire height, or measure how far it rolls per revolution and calculate the height. The number stamped on the sidewall for height may be an inch or more off from the actual size.

My tires are stamped 18 x 8.50 - 8.00 and on the Carlisle website, they give the mounted height as 18.3", but installed on my cart with me driving it, they are only a whisper above 17" tall.

I made a mark on the tire and on the pavement, drove the cart until the tire rotated four times and marked the pavement again. The measured between the marks on the pavement and divided by four to get the circumference. The resultant calculated height and height measured with a yardstick and a level with me sitting in driver's seat come out the same.

I read in fast forward, so I didn't catch whether you have a series or sepex, but the motor in my sig is amazing with stock tires and 48 volts.
