Default 97 TXT DCS Regen Braking?

Hi all, just read a post from Scottie B that you can program a 400 A DCX contoller for Regen Braking. I have had one now for many years and never programmed it out of the box. Do you know if the regen works without additional programming. If not, is it worth it to program the Regen and what is the procedure to program the controller. I go up and down two good size hills every time I pull it out of the garage. Thanks!

Regen barking is both selectable and adjustable in the DCX family of controllers.

You do have to connect a computer to the DCX controller to program it, but the programming software is free.
(Controller-Pro and instructions can be downloaded from Alltrax website. A USB to Serial adapter can be purchased at Radio Shack)

Attached is a picture of the programming screen you will see.

To select Regen braking, DO NOT put a check-mark in the "Plug Brake" box.
The "Brake Current" slider adjusts the maximum amount of regen braking allowed. (I run at 100%, but adjust to what feels right for your cart.)

How quickly the regen braking comes on after you lift your foot is determined by the "Throttle Down Rate" slider. The higher the number it is set to, the faster regen braking comes on. (I run at 15, but again, adjust to what feels right for your cart)

With the Controller-Pro software, you can also program your DCX controller so you sepex drive system behaves more like a dragster off the starting line than a family sedan, or more like a luxury sedan with a powerful engine.

When selected, the "Turbo" mode will give you a couple more MPH at the top end, but generates a lot of motor heat and uses a lot of amps. Your battery pack is on the light side, so using Turbo might cut into your run-time considerably.

Hey thanks Johnny, I was wondering about thr regen braking myself I first noticed it at higher speeds letting off the throttle but not so mush at lower speeds.
Yesterday afternoon I was on the boat launch ramp pointing towards the water and with my foot off the brake the cart would just verily creep forward.
Scotty informed me that the controller was programmable I downloaded the software and I just need to pick up the cable.
Anyway without people like you and Scotty I'd be lost
