Default Trailer length for cart with rear seat ?

Greetings! I recently acquired a 1997 E-Z-Go cart and without a back seat, it fills up a 5x8 trailer. I plan to add a rear seat later. I am going to buy a trailer next week and was planning to buy a 5x10 trailer. After considering it, I am not certain how long a typical cart with back seat measures. I also would like to have a trailer that would handle a newer cart if they happen to be longer. I prefer the 10 foot because a 6x12 is a little bigger than ideal for my wife to pull while I am towing a camper.

So.....can anyone pass along the length of their cart with the back seat ? Also, any trailer recommendations before I buy one ?

Thanks in advance

weld on a hitch to that camper and giver her the old double tow. Its legal in alabama, and you still dont need a tag on either.

Are you considering getting a limo cart?

A 5 x 10 will be fine, even for a lifted cart with big rubber. I have a Yamaha G29 (current model) with a rear seat and step platform...measures right at 9 ft overall from the front tire tread to the back of the rear seat platform.

A note when trailer shopping. You really want to look for one with a 'V' hitch tongue and 14 or 15 inch wheels. Smaller wheels have a hard time keeping up at freeway speeds.

Usually lots of options on Craigslist (search: utility trailer) - you can save a lot if you shop carefully..remember to check the bearings for ample grease.

Cheers

A 10 foot trailer is good for this cart.

Thanks guys.....I was looking at one with the 15" tires with the A-frame hitch (I think that is the same as what you were referring to, Seoighs). I am finding on Craigslist that the 5x10 are scarce whereas the 4x8 or 5x8 are everywhere.

Birmingham - no, no limo cart....at least not yet Also, I whiteknuckle it right now pulling the 33foot bumper pull so my nerves and heart could not stand another 10 feet of trailer too! As far as tags, they are required for campers and utility trailers to my knowledge in Alabama.

Thanks and RTR

RTR

That law is 100% not enforced I have no tags on my trailers and have been pulled over one time, i loaned it to a friend he installed tags on it, they expired and i was pulled over for an expired trailer tag. he made me remove the tag and told me to have a nice day. never even looked at my license. double trailering is allowed. Its just not real practical, especially in reverse. and not for anything that doesnt have a 3500 badge on it.

I had a 5x8 trailer custom made to haul my cart in 1999. When I replaced it with a cart with a rear flip seat, I found that my trailer wasn't long enough to haul the new cart. Fortunately, I can back the cart onto the trailer and have plenty of room. Loading it isn't as easy as it used to be, but unloading is now a breeze. :)

I haven't found any problem with pulling the cart backward. I don't have a windshield on it, so that's a consideration if you do. Good luck on finding the right trailer.

Good info, Coosa, thanks.....was the difference in backing it onto the trailer that the rear seat was able to overhang the front rail giving you more room ?

Trying to determine if my spare should be mounted up front on the A-frame or on the side. I prefer up front but if there is an issue like you had where you may be overhanging the front rail, I want to keep that option open.

Thanks !

About 3 weeks ago I purchased a new 6by 10 trailer golf cart fit great with rear seat not much room for anything else fit is tight if it moves a little it would rub on gate or number on front of trailer
went back last Monday and purchased a 6 by 12 perfect for cart with rear seat and a little more if you wanted I was lucky that my club car sold and the guy wanted my 6 by 10 he paid what I paid but 6 by 12 the way to go .....
