ezgo txt shock tabs.
Can someone take some pics of where there shocks mount on front the cart. The tabs on mine have a pretty significant bend in them on both sides. Just curious to if these bends are suppose to be there or not.. Thanks

Re: ezgo txt shock tabs.
deerhunter88, those shouldn't be bent. It looks like the previous owner may have changed these out with an automotive shock that has a rod that is too long to clear the steering assy properly and they bent them to clear.
My rear ones were bent, but my cart has had a hard life prior to my ownership. |

HMMMMM... That's not cool. I don't really know much of the history of the cart before I had it. I know the guy was a tractor/diesel mechanic so its possible that he altered some things to make things fit. I had a buddy pull a wheel stand on the cart and land the front tires really hard on the cement, that caused the dent in the steering mechanism there.. I installed a set of heavy duty rear leaf springs on the rear two years ago.
What's my fix for this? buy new shocks and straighten these tabs back? Is it that simple? |

Re: ezgo txt shock tabs.
hehehe, those wheel stands can do lots of crazy things to you and your cart. LOL
I just straightened my shafts back out as it was bent past the mount point. It seems to be working just fine afterwards with no ill effects. Good Luck! |

What's the best type of front shocks to buy for a lifted cart such as this?

Re: ezgo txt shock tabs.
You might try looking at some of our sponsors sites to see what they offer. I have seen lifted carts with anything from stock shocks to those with coil-overs. All I can say is... your mileage may vary... I will be looking at the same thing once I get to that portion of upgrades.

Re: ezgo txt shock tabs.
In the photo, it appears to me that the part of the mounting bracket the shock stud goes through, is not perpendicular with the center-line of the shock. Of course, no being at aligned for maximum strength might be a result of the cart being lifted, but I suspect the top bracket is bent downward around 10 or 15 degrees.
Please post picture of bracket on other side and/or of a known undamaged bracket with shock mounted. |

Re: ezgo txt shock tabs.
On the video (21 seconds in)) I noticed that the tabs on this cart are also slightly bent. Im thinking mine are bent more than what is called for though. I will look this evening to see if I can notice a difference in the left and right tab. I may take shocks off and try to straighten them.. |

Re: ezgo txt shock tabs.
Your front end has suffered some significant damage. Looking at the video you provided, one can see the tab from a couple different angles. There is a lot more arc to yours than the stock ones.
I'm guessing your shocks are completely shot and offer no resistance when hitting a hard bump, (or when doing a wheelie). I too would like to see the other side. Just to see if the damage is consistent. I would not personally try to fix the tab. But I'm not a metal worker and don't know how to properly re-temper the metal. Just bending it back to the right angle will not solve anything as it will continue to re-arc over time. |
