Default 97 TXT, won't click solenoid or run, reverse buzzer on constantly

Guy brought his cart over last week. '97 TXT with the DCS system and a 1206 controller. Got a chance to look at it for him. The reverse buzzer comes on as soon as the key is turned on and after checking everything according to the Gurus on this site as best I could, I find the solenoid circuit is not getting any B- voltage from the controller. I can hook a jumper from battery pack B-to the solenoid at the blue wire post and the solenoid clicks and sometimes the runs. it is not consistent about running. Sometimes it will twitch the back wheels and then will they slowly begin to turn. Sometimes the wheels don't turn at all. it is not consistent. Back to the reverse beeper, could it be providing a ground path for the controller? Any body willing to venture forth with any suggestions. I am leaning towards the controller being bad, but don't positively know. Thanks for any help. Gene Davis

Probable a bad controller.

Solenoid (coil) is good because it clicks when B- is applied to the blue wire.
Problem is that the controller is supposed to be doing that.

With Run/Tow in Run, Key ON and F/R in F, you should have full pack voltage on Pins 6,9 & 10.
(If you measure Pin-7, it will show pack voltage also, it is coming through the solenoid coil)

When you push the pedal, you should also have full pack voltage on Pin-5 (and Pin-7 should drop to zero)

If you have pack voltage on Pins 5, 6, 9 & 10 at the same time and the known good solenoid does not click, the controller is bad.

Johnnie B. I do have pack voltage on those pins. I had reached the conclusion that the controller was bad, but wanted some reinforcement before I told him the bad news.
What controller would you recommend? It has the stock one now and he uses it on his farm in moderate hill country. It is kinda rough looking and I am not sure it is worth the price of a new heavier amperage controller and probably solenoid upgrade and whatever in my book. Not my call though. Thanks for your input. Gene Davis

Farm buggies aren't beauty queens, but if the frame and running gear is in good shape, an Alltrax DCX400 with a 200A solenoid would do wonders for its performance.

A stock DCS motor has good low end torque and would be great on moderate hills.
The DCX/NCX family of controllers were designed to be a Plug-n-Play replacements for the problematic Curtis 1206SX controller (stock DCS controller)

Another option would be an Alltrax NCX300-DCS. It is a Non-programmable controller with roughly the same Amp rating as the stock DCS controller.

I spoke with the owner today. He is not talking much like he wants to spring for a new controller set up. So the wait is on and I pushed it out of the shop to sit while he thinks about it. Later, Gene

My 97 is doing the same thing all buzero in an any position but once I push pedal it stops and almost sounds like the controller resets. I looked at solenoid and found a fried off motor wire on left side of solenoid. Just ordered a new one and replaced wire. Is the buzzer being on constantly a sign of a bad controller? I'll know more once I install the new solenoid.
