07 EZ go questions

just purchased a 07 ez go not sure of voltage, I have a few questions about it.
What is the little switch on the brake pedal for?

Is there a specific way to charge the batteries? (time on charger)

When I test drove the cart it was on asphault, going up hill it seemed to have plenty of power.
Got it home and on grass, going up hill it just fail on its face. I am fearfull that I have bought a dud. please help.

Try to identify which drive system you have from the chart below. If that doesn't help post some pics from under the seat and we will try to help.
