Default Newbie needing advice on lift kits and, well, everything else.

I just purchased a bone stock 2007 electric txt. I live at a lake(Medina Lake) that is 96% empty. The cart will be used (mostly) by my son and his daughter to putt around the lake bed. I will use it to get around the lake bed to various areas to do some metal detecting.

I am a bit overwhelmed by all the different lift kits, tires and rims available.
A four or five inch lift kit is what I am interested in.
Not sure about the size or type of tires to get.
To keep cost down I prefer to just get the stock looking type of rims. Nothing fancy just yet.

Should I also step up to 4gauge cables at this time?

I can do any and all type of mechanical work.

welcome to BGW
yes do the cable upgrade
a 6" lift is really easy (see video) tires should be off road tire
your the master of your cart so you decide the look... stock rims are ok
most folks can do the basic stuff on a golf cart

I think I may have posted this in the wrong area. Perhaps it should be moved to the Modified Golf Carts section.

Crash, I watched that and several other videos this past weekend. These carts are easy to work on. Kinda like my Geo metro.
My son and granddaughter are excited to get this project moving.
Will be a family project.

Using an automotive lift, I can install the lift kits in a little over an hour......and that's repainting some parts along the way. It's very simple. Just don't overlook the small things as you do it. And by that I mean, that when I first started lifting carts I didn't realize that one of the brake cables on a Club Car Precedent would end up being to short. That and the fact that underbody components tend to have excessive rust and little clips like to break. And if the kit come with some form of a loctite solution for the bolts, use it. I've seen some bolts back out that I never would have believed possible without seeing it for myself.....parts that I put on with a torque wrench.
