Default 1988 golf cart ezgo chassis

runs great on flat, and until recently pulled hills great. Now, good on flat, barely pulls small hill. Batteries new and show good voltage (36 v cart) Grateful for any ideas as to cause.

Connect a handheld digital multimeter (DMM) to the pack and monitor voltage drop while climbing hills. If it drops excessively, do the same test for each battery. Even new ones could have a bad cell.

Thanks Yurtl, Did find one bad battery following your suggestion Charging it to see if it comes up. If not will have to replace. If battery comes up, is it possible the accelerator switch is bad?

A bad battery is probably your problem. Most buggy things either work or they don't, BUT, if you have an ITS, download the service manual from the Stickeys and adjust. Mine wasn't quite reaching 100%.

Replace bad battery with a used one, the same age and preferably same make/model. At least match the amp-hours.
