Default Alltrax SPM blinks with key off

I can put the cart in F or R and the light on the controller comes on and keeps blinking 4 x's then stops and repeats itself. The solenoid will only kick in with the key on tho. should i be concerned about the light staying on, I put the reversing contactor on it also. would that have anything to do with it

Dunno. Does it drive normally?
Sounds normal.
What is "it".

cart runs fine, i was thinking there has to be some power going to the controller to make it blink with the F&W switch on, So I figured it was maybe just how the reversing contactor works.

You may have hot wired the contactor and controller. You should remedy this The life of both units will be significantly shortened if they are left powered up when not in use.

2 things to look at...

Where does the power for the F&R rocker switch come from? Is this power cut off by the key switch?

Where does the power for the controller pin #1 come from? Is this power cut off by the key switch?

the power going to the reversing contactor comes directly from the pack. i got the one that can be used on 36 and 48v. so i couldnt run the main power from the switch or i would have 48v going to it.

To re-wire this so the key switch controls the circuit do the following.

I will use a eight 6v battery pack as an example. Connect the negative side of the contactor activation circuit to the neg(-) post on battery #6 (36v). The pos(+) side will come from the solenoid as usual which is key switch controlled.

Test this out with your meter. Put the red lead on the main (+) post and the black lead on the neg(-) post of battery #6. Your meter should read 36v.

This is what the contactor will see. I hope this helps.

So i just took a look and i have the pos wire from the key switch and the 32V Neg from the battery pack. The light only stays on if you have the cart on and turn it off with the cart in F or R and stays blinking till you put the switch in natural. If you turn the F and R with the key off the lights dont come on.

I have mine wired the same way and have noticed the same thing. the positive for the FR switch and the reversing contactor are tied together on my buggy keyed on. But if it is not in the neutral position with the key off the controller light blinks.
