Default 03 PDS resurrection

03 pds cart I"m trying to bring back from the dead.

I started out with nothing . With the help of the forum, I bypassed the reed switch and am making some progress.

Now with the Run/Tow in Run, Key switch on, F/R in forward and pedal depressed, I get one initial click of the solenoid and then another as the pedal is pushed to the floor. In reverse, the same with a steady beep. Nothing else happens.

I did a continuity test on the stock motor f1-f2 and a1-a2 and it tests good.

Also, it doesn't matter whether the key switch in on or off, I get a steady beep with the F/R in reverse. Is this normal?

I tried to put it in diagnostic mode but nothing seems to happen. It beeps every time I go to reverse, with the key off, but no beeps after back and forth to neutral five times.

I borrow a DMM but it only shows whole volts, no fractions. The pack is reading 38v. The batteries are old and abused but shouldn't they have enough juice in them to get to cart to at least move a little?

I've read through 21 pages of posts, tried to go through the diagnostics listed and still don't know where to go from here.

Thanks in advance for any guidance,

Dave

IIRC, you have to switch the F/R back to Neutral after the fifth time to Reverse. but it has been a while since I had a stock PDS controller, so I may be wrong.

It is normal to get a continuous beep when F/R is in R, except when Run/Tow is in Tow.

Does the solenoid click when you push the pedal while F/R is in R?
If you get the beeper, but no solenoid click, the controller is most likely bad.

Yes, the solenoid clicks in forward and reverse. It clicks once as you start to press the pedal and then another time as you go towards fully down.

So the reverse beep is supposed to come on continuous whether or not the key switch is on or off when the switch is in reverse?

And yes I went from reverse to neutral back and forth 5 times. I stopped in neutral but no beeps afterwards.

Thank you. I couldn't remember whether it was supposed to or not. Its seems kind of odd it is supposed to with the key off.

I thought the same thing about old batteries being able to move the cart just a few feet. But in reality the bad cells in a couple of the batteries wouldn't allow it to do anything. I temporarily wired in three 12v car batteries and mine started running flawlessly. Maybe you've got some bad cells that aren't allow you to get enough power.

OK, I figured out how to get it into diagnostic mode and just get one beep. No error code beeps. Which I think is normal as I do not have a "Freedom plug" installed at the moment.

Does that give me an indication my controller may be OK?

ps: I tested each battery with the basic meter I have and they all read 6v.

Get your wheels off the ground, with the 5 times in reverse beep code, do that again.

After it beeps once, put it in reverse again and press the acc pedal, it should stop beeping and give you the error code.

Voltage readings at a stand still can be misleading. Readings taken under load (while the cart is moving are better) as some bad batteries drop considerable voltage under load

I tried this. I get the one beep, put it in reverse and press the pedal and get a constant beep. I held it for about 30-45 secs.

I get a constant beep with the F/R in reverse all the time the Run/Tow is in run.
