Trailer hitch
I was thinking of adding a hitch to the rear of my EZGO. It has a rear flip sean and it seems that all the hitches attach to that, My question is are the seat frames strong enough to add the weight of a small utility trailer and a few kids on it?

Re: Trailer hitch
Yes. I do that, and more. Just don't try to pull a truck from a mud hole!

Re: Trailer hitch
The hitch works fine for normal purposes. When I say "normal", I mean towing 500-600 lbs with less than 100 lbs hitch weight. I move my 6x12 utility trailer around the yard with no problems at all. The problems start when I try to use a hitch mounted carrier. The way that the hitch cantilevers the step without much support makes it pretty weak to handle any sort of a leveraged load like the carrier. One of my winter projects this year will be to fabricate a new mounting system for the hitch to help in this department.

Re: Trailer hitch
do you have HD leaf springs in the back cause the more hitch weight the more sagging

Re: Trailer hitch
The "sagging" has nothing to do with the suspension, but yes I have HD springs. When you leverage weight on the hitch, the step physically gives and twists causing the hitch to point downward. Total weight of the hitch mounted aluminum carrier and its contents is 50-60 lbs and it extends less than 24" with the center of the load being 10-12" from the hitch.
It won't take much to beef up the hitch and the step together, I just need to take the time to mess with it. |

I guess as long as I balance my leads over the well of the trailer I should be ok then.

Re: Trailer hitch
Honestly, what you propose should be fine. The electrical system is weaker than the hitch. I didn't see any info on your cart, but from what I can make of your picture, you have a lifted RXV with 22-23" tires. That should definitely do better than my PDS cart!
