2010 ST Express stripped axle splines LH on spider gear end
Good Morning,
We are trying to fix our EZGO and are short on time. SE#2704216 First question, Our axle appears that is was too short for our cart. (24.3/4) the replacement recommended is even shorter (23.5) that would not even reach the spider gear. The one that is now stripped on the LH side was only engaging the spider gear by .25 inches. Why such a short Axle in the first place? And why would the suggested replacement for our cart be even shorter? SO, vs spending $1,100.00 for an entire rear axle kit which we could not even have in time, I am looking to pick up a 20377G9 Axle which is 25.552" and hopefully get in into the spider gear. Has anyone done this before? Any other ideas? We leave for Disney in just a few days and are running short on time. Thank you in advance, ~Laura |

Re: 2010 ST Express stripped axle tines LH on spider gear end
It sounds like the axle slipped on the outer bearing and shifted away from the spider. I don't have one to measure but someone may come along who does..

Thank you Kgsc! So far, the bearing has not moved! I even thought about do the opposite as what you just said. shifting the bearing so I could engage the spider more. Frustrating.

If you can move the bearing to make the axle go in farther then it never was right to begin with. When the axle was in was the brake hub going all the way to the backing plate ?

X2 sounds like the bearing was never on right , have you checked the other side to see how far the axle goes in the gears

or maybe the axle tube wasn't in all the way ?? But I would think that would mess up the spring plate..
