Default 10" vs 8" wheels with 22" tires

I am planning on doing a lift job 4" drop axle on a 1996 EZGO TXT. Research on the site shows that 22" tires should work well with that lift.

My question. I see many kinds of tires in the 22" size for both 8" and 10" wheels. Is there anything to recommend one wheel size over the other. It would be cheaper to reuse the existing standard 8" wheels that are currently on the cart. Would they work OK with the 22" tires.

It really depends on your intended use for the cart. On 8" wheels, you will likely get a lot of sidewall flex which will result in undesirable handling at higher speeds. I've run 22" tires with 8" wheels on ATVs and the tires definitely roll a lot in the turns and are generally less stable than a lower profile tire on a larger wheel.

If you don't plan any further speed modifications and you can live with the looks, 22 on 8 will work. The only thing that may be a problem is the stock wheels may not have enough offset for the lift. Also if you ever intend to upgrade the brakes, I don't think anybody offers a kit that will work with 8" wheels.

8" wheels work with alot of kits, but they must be offset.Stock wheels are centered,no offset.Looks and application are the deciding factors on size.I prefer 8" wheels, since the sidewalls flex more for the offroad stuff i do,and I like the look better.
