Default Textron Charger Cuts Off at 40volts

My 36 volt charger cuts off at 40volts so my batteries only get about 6.6volts per battery and my batteries always seem weak. What do I need to replace in my charger to get the cutoff higher?

to BGW
is it a ezgo textron powerwise charger ?
if it is you can test it and fix some problems
more than likely its ether one of the diodes failed (ez fix)
or
transformer coil failed ( replace charger )

It is the EZGO Textron with the green face and eleven hour timer.

The green faced chargers are automatic with the timer for reference or to kick charger off at 12 hours if it doesn't shut off automatically.
Could be a battery problem also I think.

The timer is working but if I drive it a short distance after being charged with relatively new batteries it will charge for a few minutes but only to about 40 volts. If I jumper the charger to run longer and get the charge up to about 44 volts the cart runs like it should and has plenty of power. I read on this site somewhere that a 36 volt cart should charge to about 46 volts.

This is a true statement.

The typical shutoff voltage for an automatic ferroresonant transformer type charger is in the 44V to 46V range.

The Green-faced TC you have senses the pack voltage inside the charger, so you might just have dirty contacts at the Charger plug - Cart receptacle interface, or any connection anywhere from where the output cable connects to the heatsink and ammeter inside the charger to the main positive and negative terminals on the battery pack in the cart.

Measure the voltage at the Red and Black wires on the control board and you might find them higher the the voltage at the battery pack terminals.

Red and Black wires are at the upper right of attached picture. They are the battery sense wires.

--------------
If that isn't the problem, it will still be a fairly easy fix.

Sounds like you batteries have been chronically undercharged, so their lifespan has been shortened some, but giving them a few back to back charges may bring up their storage capacity to something close to what it ought to be for their age.

------------
Of course, if you want maximum battery performance and lifespan, get a DPI Accusense charger.
