Default more torque needed

It's been a while since i've posted, really haven't had any issues with cart except lose of torque after tire upgrade. I've noticed the cart struggles when going up hill or pulling out of a ditch since i went with 25" tires with 2 people in it. it had alot more torque with the 1st set of tire's which were 23" all terrain but they had issues with the side walls dry rotting.

I hate to change tire sizes since this was big investment and i like the extra ground clearance.

My question is, i've seen the high speed gear set for added speed but do they make a lower gear set for more torque?

Currently the cart has 25" Bear claws tires, GE 1162 motor, 500 DCX controller, 48 volt T875 trojans, #2 weld leads, HD solenoid. this is a 2007 PDS cart.

I probably should have used a series cart for this build because it mainly used at the farm and deer camp down the logging roads which are pretty hilly.
but i wasn't as informed when i started this project.

Thx KyDog

geeeez, you already have a High Torque motor....and your at 48v.....and you need more torque? well the stock gear set is a 12.4:1 .....and I have seen a 15:1 set out there.....but the ones I have found are only good for 88-97 rear ends.

Sir Nuke, i just found the 15 to 1 gear set on Buggies unlimited. $466 ouch.
the buggy is stalling out trying to pull up a fairly steep hill especially with 2 people and deer in the back. I don't want to fry the motor or controller. I have no need for high speed and the cart will currently run 26 to 28 MPH on gps on flat ground. I would rather have the increased torque for what i use the cart for. but $466 ouch.

By going from 23" to 25" tires, you only lost 8% of the torque where the rubber meets the road, so the may be some other factors involved.

Do you have a GE1162 or a GE D1162 motor?

Are you running the recommended field map for your motor?
I don't know what it is, but I don't think it is #4.
Call Alltarx to find out and get the correct one if you aren't running it.

Also, what is the pack voltage dropping to when the cart is having trouble climbing a hill?

Your 6 x T-875 battery pack is only a 170AH system while voltage drop under load is determined by how many amps are being drawn relative to AH capacity and a DCX500 feeding a high torque motor turning 25" tires will draw a lot of amps.

Are any cables getting hot?

In other words, your motor and controller may be doing their job, except they are running out of juice.

In my experience. 25 inch tires are just too much tire for an electric golf cart. (I suggest 22" for hilly terrain) Going with the 15:1 gear should bring you back to a reasonable drive ratio.
I have 25s and 15:1 gear on my gas cart. But it is powered by a 25hp V-twin. That is 3 times the hp in my electric carts with 23s. Try the gear change.

You are not making sense. You added larger tires for speed, but you had to sacrifice torque to get it. Now you want to spend more money on a low speed gear that negates the larger tires you added. It will reduce speed but gain you torque back. You are right back where you started from minus a $1000 or whatever you spent on wheels, tires, and now a low speed gear. You gotta Money Pit that need not be.

If I were you at this point I would put back on the other wheels and tires you had, and sell the larger ones to recover some of your losses. Beats lining the pockets of another salesman with a gear change you do not need.

It's money spent on ground clearance... That last inch was expensive.
I have a friend with a truck like this.

A 15:1 gear ratio (I think it is 14.7 rather than 15 even) with 25" tires ought to give you about 10% more torque than you originally had with 12.44:1 gears and 23" tires.

But, I'd check the stuff I mentioned also.
