Default Re: I'm new and looking for some tips for a 3 wheel 36v EZ go

Thanks for your help. I did find the plate. It reads: sn 307277. MFG Code: 83L21. After taking this battery out of the circuit the cart runs fine (on 5 batteries). I drove it all around this afternoon. I need to get a gauge to check the batteries.
By having a mixed set of batteries is that bad? Can I replace just one battery without replacing them all?
This has been a very educational project and I do appreciate all of the advice and direction that you are giving me. I am now hooked on carts and hope tto have this one for a long while.

Okay........Stop! Get out of the cart give the key to a responsible adult
You can not run this cart all afternoon on 5 batteries any more than you can you can run your car all day on 5 cylinders.....Does that make any sense?
If in fact you want to learn start listening to pggroves and study what he says

Please reread my post. I never said all afternoon. Probably about 15 minutes or so. And yes you can run a car on 5 cylinders.

OK, now we're getting somewhere. Your cart was born on June 21, 1983. So we KNOW now that you have an 1983 EZGO Model X440. The motor s/b perpendicular to the rear axle and the resistor coil set is under and behind the driver's butt. Is this accurate?

Running the system on 30 volts isn't ideal but won't hurt anything on that system. Did you ID and age the rest of the pack? It really sounds like your batteries are creating most of your issues and the one you took out was probably shorted which would pull down the rest.

The wiring diagram(s) in the Sticky section will work for you. I have others that might be easier to read. Just let me know.

You're on the right track. Keep at it. Batteries and their care and maintenance are the "life blood" of a sparky. Take care of them. They're expensive.
