I'm new and looking for some tips for a 3 wheel 36v EZ go
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just took ownership of an EZ Go 36v 3 wheel golf cart. I am not sure of the year or how to identify. I did not find any tags. It was running and just died. The previous owner replaced the selonoid. It does not match the old one exactly but the cart still does not work after it was replaced. There is also an unidentified wire dangling - it is red and labeled F2 and is connected to the 2nd nut on the speed controller. I am not sure where to start with the trouble shooting process. There is 32 volts across the batteries. One thing that I did notice was i got a shock leaning on the cart. I put my meeter on the body and there was about 14 volts going through. I am not sure if this is normal, but was hoping it would help. Thanks in advance for your help. |

32 volts is too low for a pack reading. Check individual battery readings and post them here. (like 6.21 or?) No juice is supposed to get to the frame....Clean the battery tops with water and baking soda......There are wiring diagrams at the top of this section. Download the one that is closest to your old cart ....good Luck

Check the Stickys at the top of the EZGO Electric section for a wiring diagram. Look for one that is like your setup. The mfr tag on that cart should be on the left hand side of the passenger glove box area. You have an X440 model aka Marathon. Be careful with the baking soda. Just a little bit of that in a cell will kill it. It works great, but just be careful.
Compare your wiring to a diagram. Trace and confirm each connection. Clean up battery bay and each connection. Electrics are finicky about clean and tight connections. Get the right solenoid. How old are the batteries? Look at code stamped on top of neg post on Trojan batteries. Also, charge set completely and let them settle for an hour then check the specific gravity of each cell with a hydrometer and note readings. |

Could there possible be a short in the motor causing the frame to have juice going through it?
Would you recomend charging without knowing what the unidentified wire is. Thanks for your help |

Re: I'm new and looking for some tips for a 3 wheel 36v EZ go
I found one of the batteries to be low on voltage and real dirty. I put it on my battery tender for a while and got it back up to around 6 volts then charged the whole cart for a little while. I put the old solenoid back on but can't identify the one wire at all. When I put my meeter across the solenoid and put the petal down it reads 36.9 volts. I could charge the batteries more. But still no responce from the motor. Is there any chance that the unidentified wire could be the culprit? It is a pretty heavy gauge wire and is connected to the speed controller. It isn't that long. The options are that it can go to the solenoid, the motor, maybe a battery. I was trying to look at nuts that were taken off recently that this wire would fit but that didn't help much? Any helpful hints?
Thanks again. |
