Should I change my FnR Switch?
My 1996 36V EZGO Series cart is periodically losing power. Sometimes when I'm driving, come to a stop or just let off the "gas" pedal, the red battery light goes out. Then it suddenly comes back on with a "click", the red light comes back on and the cart speeds up.
I'm thinking it's a contact issue in the FnR switch. Especially since moving that switch or pressing the gas pedal makes the cart go again. -batteries are in good shape and charged -cart goes about 15 mph Thoughts? Can I take the switch out and clean the contacts? |

Re: Should I change my FnR Switch?
That is a "microswitch" issue, not the big wires. Lube the switch with a (preferably non-flammable) lubricant, like Zep-preserve, its similar to Wd40, but not flammable. When the whole assembly is free, the microswitch problems usually disappear.

Re: Should I change my FnR Switch?
Like cg said, clean/lube all three micros, foot pedal and the 2 on the FnR and see how it behaves.

Re: Should I change my FnR Switch?
I would spray a little lube on the pivot shaft & the sliding surface of the f&r as well, it will free up the whole operation, making getting contact at the micros easier.

Re: Should I change my FnR Switch?
Took out the FnR switch and cleaned it up. Now moving to the pedal microswitch. Also, can a key switch go bad? That's how I've got the cart to run again is just switching the cart off and on with the key?

Re: Should I change my FnR Switch?
I think you nailed it. txt key switches often fail this way. I forgot about that. Be sure to order the correct one (lights or no lights).
