Easiest way to get your EZGO/CLUBCAR to 18mph
What is the easiest/cheapest way to get to 18mph?
Is there a difference between doing this to EZGO VS Clubcar. From my research I hear they make these "chips" but I think that's only for EZGO and maybe only certain models. I recently started getting very into golf carts, I have been buying ezgo's and Club cars all different years, and I would like to know if there is easy ways to obtain just 5 more mph, and if I should be buying certain years/brands of carts. I appreciate any help! |

EZGO: Any of the TXTs with the PDS drive system (F-R toggle switch on dash next to key switch) will accept a speed/torque chip. It plugs into the controller
Club Car: Any 02-2012 Club Car DSs with the IQ drive system (F-R toggle switch) or 2004-Present Precedents will accept Speed Code 4 (Gets 19.6mph, only Auth. CC dealer can install), or a high speed magnet |

In a series drive cart (EZGO or CC), the Plumquick Bandit motor is a bolt in that'll get you real close to the speed you want. Most cost effective motor upgrade out there.

Since I have a series 48v CC again, I'm contemplating whether or not to put my 36v motor in it. It will be a free upgrade

Ok so...
EZGO: What year are the PDS's made? I am assuming those are only newer because they have the fwd reverse switch on the dash? How about making the older ones faster? The ones I am purchasing are cheaper 1995-2005 ones. Club Car: Same thing, what about the older ones? 1995-2002? Also why can only a dealer change the speed code? how much does that cost? |

OP: there are numerous ways to go about getting the speed increase - in a series cart, higher voltage = more speed and higher amperage = more torque. The newer drive systems can have speed programming done like CCFanatic mentioned, and some get nice speed by upgrading the controller. Taller tires will also increase top end, but you'll sacrifice some torque without controller upgrades to support them. Then you get into HD switching and cables, solenoids and contactors, and all the go fast goodies. Welcome to the madness. |

How much are bandit motors, and how easy to install yourself? Is it a new motor? what exactly does it do?

Re: Easiest way to get your EZGO/CLUBCAR to 18mph
On my one and only electric cart I ever had I'd point it down hill and put it in neutral to hit those speeds. On my gas club car (villager 6 with the fe350) I bypassed the governor and inflated the tires to 30 psi. Hits 22.7 before the rev limiter kicks in. On my Yamaha G2 with a Polaris ho ATV engine and 24" tires breaking 35 isn't hard. So long story short I have no idea other then either pumping up your tires dangerously high or installing bigger tires. 20" tires should fit with little to no rubbing on a stock club car. Oh and I had an ezgo but with the motor and gear swap it was clocked over 70 mph at the sand dunes.
