What's the Best Electric Cart (any year) if staying unmodified?

Just curious on everyone's opinions of which electric golf cart you all think is the best one to buy for $2500 or less (regardless of year) and why?

Trying to figure out which one for my parents. They are not interested in modifying the cart what so ever. Live on flat ground and will rarely go more than 3 or 4 miles per charge. It will eventually be used to haul a tiny john boat to the lake and back.

As always price is an issue so new carts are out of the question. Not looking to buy anyone's cart right now, just want to hear opinions and why.

I would think a series cart would be best for hauling a boat to the lake

Whatever you buy, just make sure it is a controller cart, not a resistor cart. Resistor carts waste too much energy. I prefer the EZ Go TXT Series carts from '96 on. Easy to troubleshoot, no excess wiring BS.

I will admit I am biased in my opinion in that I own one but I recommend the Yamaha Drive electric cart. Because the cart has coil over suspension on all four corners, it rides really well. Mine has the PTV code installed so it is fast enough for me. The seats are large and comfortable. It has an internal wet disk brake that uses one cable and not exposed to the elements. The factory top is larger than most. I have driven most brands and this cart rides better, handles well, and seems smoother than most. Range has not been an issue. Drove almost 10 miles yesterday and was at right at 90% SOC when I got back. There are few "go fast" upgrades for the G29s but you said you didn't care about that anyway. I have read that you should stay away from the 2007 models because of weak metal in the gear train but other than that, not many problems. I think it looks good too. My wife, who rarely drove my EZGO, loves the Yamaha. Try a stock height G29 and see for yourself.

Series drive 48 volt CC DS. Aluminum frame (rust free battery trays!!) and super tough and reliable suspension, plus better brakes than stock EZGOs. 95 onward gets you a 48 volt, 2000.5 onward gets you the redesigned top and seat backs which are nicer. Just make sure it's a series drive cart for reliability and the simplicity of wiring mentioned by G-man. A 36 volt CC controller cart would be awesome for them as well, as they're SUPER simple, but good luck finding one - made in 93 and 94 only, they're fairly rare.

Look for a 2007+ Yamaha electric cart. Here's why:

They have McPherson struts all around for best handling and ride by far on a stock golf cart.

They come with rear disc brakes inside the rear axle (wet braking system) which is excellent and zero maintenance.

A composite battery tray for absolutely no corrosion (take that CC, aluminum still corrodes fast).

A no squeak front window due to better mounting and a robust roof makes for very quite rides. Also has rain gutters so no wet takeoffs at all if it was left out in the rain.

I'm with you on the features, SC, but how likely is it to find one at $2500 or less? That's the main reason I say CC - they're a good compromise of features and feasibility with regard to price.

Take a ride to Tifton, GA. The dealer there always has a selection of golf course 2010+ G29's for less then 2500.
