Marketeer project. Having problems.
I bought this Marketeer last year for $150. Just now trying to get it running. They said it ran when they parked it. It has sat for about 3 years. I have 3 12 volt batteries in it right now just to make sure everything works. (Is that ok?)
Want to get the bugs worked out before spending money on batteries and see if its even worth it. I have 36 volts from the batteries and the solenoids were clicking, so i replaced the first 2. Now I just get a very bright arc in the rotary speed control switch and no power. I plan on taking the rotary switch apart and cleaning the contacts to see if that helps. Any tips on what else to do? This is a cool cart and I want to get it going to run around the pits at our local dirt track. |

No replies?
Would love to strike up a correspondence. I just picked up a very similar Marketeer, and was also wondering about the 3x12v vs. 6x6v question. Guess I'll find out this weekend when I pick up a couple more of the costco deep cycle marine batteries. I'll also comb the rest of the site for additional wisdom. |

I don't know anything about Marketeers . But 3-12 volt batteries will work but will run down very quickly. They will be good for testing but will be frustrating going down so quick.

Test your cart on rear jack stands so nobody gets hurt when it goes ALL of a SUDDEN.

Hey Mike - can you elaborate here? why will 12v batteries run down quickly versus 6v?

Re: Marketeer project. Having problems.
With 6 6v batteries you will have about twice the weight in lead and battery acid over 3 12volt.
Also the 6v are built for golf cart use the 12v are probably car batteries or deep cycle marine batteries at best, not the same as deep cycle golf cart batteries. Cool looking cart. You need to put real headlights in it |
