42 volt western trouble shoot.
I'm going to look at a friends 42 volt western tomorrow . I have little info on the cart year or anything else yet all I do know is that it's getting power to the lights buy won't move. My question is , where do I start in order to diagnose the problem on this cart?

my question to you is where do you usually start and what do you do to diagnose an Ezgo TXT?

Re: 42 volt western trouble shoot.
Call it good fortune , luck or lack of dealing with carts very long, but I have never had to deal with any issues regarding no power to the motor tell now. I guess if I had to answer you I'd say first check the pack voltage then possibly the solenoid. Although one of the main reasons im asking is that I have heard said a few times that the western cart is notorious for having electrical problems which tells me that it could have an entirely different wiring system that will baffle me at the get go and is there a common well known something that happens with cart that may be related to my up coming task?

Re: 42 volt western trouble shoot.
Not really, I find the statement about westerns having more than their share of electrical problems unfounded. The western is an Ezgo but, they do have a few more bells and whistles, little bigger motor, an extra battery or 2 but still a golf cart from the 90's. They came in the usual Series and PDS drive. And a few from the 80s are still around with resistor coil drive.

They are having issues with this cart needless to say. Not only the issue of not moving but needs a new front end due to the nice guys at the golf coarse washing the batteries and leaving the key on,there for allowing the cart to deside to take off on its own and crashing into the clubhouse.

Western wiring for the running of the cart is OK. But the wiring for lights and assessories is a nightmare. But I agree, Other than that is a typical golf car, nothing to be afraid of.

These carts did have a few extra bells and whistles. I remember one that had a bad 12v latching solenoid in the trunk - (locked and unresponsive) that was a fun fix Access can be worse.... like for the F&R on series models because of the fancy body. And there was a rehab for the bag holders needed on nearly all the Elegante carts. |

I spent 3 hours trying to diagnose the problem today with no luck. And where the heck is the F\R switch on the thing?

Re: 42 volt western trouble shoot.
What kind of a question is that - LOL. How do you expect to fix the cart if you can't find the F&R. Just kidding....which drive system and operating voltage are you asking about.
