A Couple Of Lift Kit Questions
Hi Guys!
Have a couple of questions in regards to lift kits. We're trying to get a little more knowledgeable in this department so we figured we would ask the experts here! 1.) What would be the smallest tire you would put on a 6" lifted golf cart? We're thinking 20-23 without looking silly but, not sure. Would love to hear anyone's opinion here. 2.) Roughly, how much extra carrying weight does a lift kit give? 100lbs? And lastly, 3.) How deep into water/mud can you drive with a golf cart lift kit? What would you all recommend? A couple inches depending on the size of lift kit is what we're thinking. Any help you all can provide would be much appreciated! Would really love a better understanding on these things! |

I don't know if you are asking about a specific cart or carts in general. Here are my thoughts on a CC DS. 1 On a 6" lift 23 barely makes the ok look with me, I think there's too much gap. I would go with no less than 22s. I like 10" rims, even though they don't look as cool as the 14's, you have so much more sidewall, I use em like air shocks. For cruisin I'll lower the pressure to 8 lbs and get a better ride, if I'm puttin a load on I'll jack up the pressure to 20 lbs. 2 The kits will usually have heavy duty 2 leaf front springs. I have an allsport ss 6" lift, I have a front basket and I can easily put 200lbs in it. The front springs are way to stiff, you don't need that for general cruisin. There's no more weight on the front with the lift. When I get aroundtuit I'm going to take out a leaf. The rear depends on the springs. With the heavy duty springs you'll most likely break you cart before you break the springs. Dual action 2 leaf are a popular alternative. with the dual action springs you're still gaining I'm guessing 400 lbs capacity. 3 The lift itself does not provide ground clearance in itself. The tire diameter determines your ground clearance. You can have a 12" lift, but with stock 8" tires your axle is still the same distance from the ground as before, the lowest part of the cart is your ground clearance. If you change those stock 8" tires for 23" you almost triple you ground clearance. I've not measured, but with 23s ,it looks like bout 10" clearance from bottom of differential. How deep water you want to drive thru is up to you. I don't much like water touching the bottom of my motor and then I'm going real slow. That's all I got, hope it helps. Muddog |
