General electric motor questions.
Guys,
I'm in the middle of my restoration of my Cushman cart. Currently it has a 36/48v, 3/4 HP, 3000/4000 RPM GE motor. The motor will need a new brush assembly (~$150) and some other restoration work. See photos for more information. 1. How does the armature com out? It's loose in the field coils but will not fall through from either side. 2. Judging by the condition of the motor, would it make sense to scrap it and buy something like an Admiral motor from cartsunlimited.com? When I figure the time and money spent getting the stocker in good shape, I think I might be better off buying a nice new motor. I think a replacement for this unit is less than $500. Also, I'm going to buy a bunch of controller stuff as well so I might be able to work out a bundle price for everything. What do you all think? |
