Ok, I have tried a few things.....

1.
DB-9 Connection
Pin 9 Open
Shorted pins 1, 4 and 6.
Shorted pins 7 and 8
TX (Molex) to pin 2
RX (Molex) to pin 3
GND to pin 5
No dice with Curtis software

2.
DB-9 Connection
Pins 1, 4, 6, 7, 9 open
TX (Molex) to pin 2
RX (Molex) to pin 3
GND to pin 5
No dice with Curtis software

3. I work with Serial hardware a lot. So I began working with a program called "RealTerm". Excellent program and it verified a 9600 baud 8N1 connection.

So I only surmise there is a transmit issue with the software or hardware. Whenever the controller is On, it continuously transmits the data. Is there a way to interrupt this transmissions? Who knows. More to come.

By the way, I am working with a Belkin USB-Serial and a Keyspan USB-19H.
Also FIFO has been turned on and off.

Help!!!

Looking at Endless Sphere, they mentioned handshaking. This is very doubtful since the Molex connector is only a 3 wire connection. CTS and RTS hardware handshaking is a non-issue. This is verified by the connectors required to operate the 1311 programmer.

Just got off the phone with a Curtis distributor. The 1309 communication box is the middle man, it talks serial and VCL!

So...... any programmers out there wanna try and learn a new language?

Comments on "using Hyperterm which is built into Windows to talk to your Curtis controler"

I've had no need for flow control or jumpering any pins together on the DB-9 or DB-25. I use X-on X-off setting on the port.

Looks like you guys have really been tinkering with the controller interface and programming.

I really wish i could be of more help, but after finding out that the one and only curtis controller i have, is having transmit issues, i really cant do any more testing untill i tear it apart and see whats blown inside. Plus with it being it use and in a cart, its not something i can quickly hook up on the bench and tinker away. Hopefully one of these days i can find some time, and take it out, and jump back on the programming bandwagon

Hi,

I just got my 1234-2271 running with 1314 PC Programming Station. This was quite a struggle.

I used a standard level shifter circuit MAX232 and inverted the ttl signals using a sn74ls04.

I used enhanced serial protocol.

I hope this helps you guys still struggling.

Regards,

Edwin

Hey Edwin. Sounds Promising!

So you are having luck with a ttl converter, but with a 74LS04 chip added after?

Ill just post a pic of my Max232 setup that i had tried in the past, is it similar to what your using?

If you could post a pic of your setup. i think it would really help others understand your setup. and how you got your chips all wired up.
