Taylor Dunn Tee Bird FNR switch gets hot...
My 1980 Taylor Dunn Tee Bird GT371 FNR switch gets hot when under power. It happens in both forward and reverse and stops when power is no longer applied. All wiring connections are tight and without play. There is a distinct electrical burning smell when this occurs.
This is a new cart to me and I know very little about it’s history. Is it possible the switch is just going bad due to wear and causing excessive heat? Also, should this switch be greased, it is dry now. TIA |

Here is a video on how to tell if your switch is bad.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTzpR_hwOGg
Heat build up is from resistance. it could be the FNR switch itself or the cable. That is why I changed out my FNR switch to a toggle setup. It cost a bit more but is safer and easier to wire. |

Re: Taylor Dunn Tee Bird FNR switch gets hot...
Thank you so much for that info, I will definitely check it out to see if I can diagnose it. I would like to try to avoid replacing with a toggle if possible to keep it as original as I can. Not sure it really makes a difference in the long run.
Thank you again for the help! Quote:
