Default Taylor-Dunn 24V 3 Wheel Restoration - fits through doorway

Picked this Taylor Dunn model 2531 today, it needs a good strip and repaint a little metalwork.....maybe a new everything.

It'll fit right though a doorway.

It has a built in, 24V charger.

Room for two 12V or four 6V Batteries.

Motor looks pretty good, the label says it can handle 36V...maybe I could do a little mod if I can find room for the batteries.

Look at the size of that gearbox!

I took some leftover batteries from my Columbia Car Corp Project. 2 of the six were dead, so when I saw the 24V cart with no batteries for sale I was juiced.

In these pics, I have the polarity reversed and the thick black cable is from the onboard charger. Found that one out when I went to charge it.

Serial/Model plate.

According to this page
http://golfcarhelp.com/serialnumbers/taylordunn.php
and this page
http://www.vintagegolfcartparts.com/...er%20Guide.PDF
I have a 1974 Model but that might only apply for golf carts...

got to love those old TD 3 wheelers. We still have some runnuning around at our plant.Yes your right they will go through a door.especially when you are hauling 10 pizzas from the guard shack to the plant and it's raining ,and the overhead door is on the other side of the building!LMAO

Took this apart a couple months ago, all the way apart. It's been sitting under a tarp. Now it's getting sandblasted, primed, and painted.

Attached here is tuesday before sandblasting was finished.
you can see part of the Pargo/Columbia Car Corp I was also getting worked on at the same time. that project is getting scrapped.

This was today, I dropped off the front wheel, and a couple trim parts to get painted at same time.

I am going with Red for main color, and black for trim/rims/underside.

I am not 100% happy with the metal work, or the painting. I already sanded the black stearing bar down so I can repaint it smooth

More details coming.

the black stearing rod (seen white'ish) in before pics with part of spotlight. Should I:

1. leave all black, replace spotlight with chrome one

2. paint crossbar the spotlight is on red, stick with new chrome light

3. paint old spotlight red or black, add a chrome ring and new bulb

strangely enough, the light will be brighter if I refurbish (24v) a new chrome one will be 12v max, and will requre a 24v->12v downstepper.

new 12v chrome spotlight ~$45 (+$25 for 24v->12v step)

refubish old one, is about $25, but will have less shiny

That's a cool cart and one heck of a sandblast pit! Holy smokes!

Our carts all had black light housings with chrome retaining rings.
The handle bars are all black.

Do you have any links to these lights, I am having trouble finding one that looks close to the original. The one we salvaged was missing the light.
