Default brake pedal question

I have a Western golf cart. On the brake pedal, there is a plunger type switch. What does this go to and what does it do?

Probably a brake light actuator switch.

Gornoman is right. If the lights are not working check the usual fuse and light bulbs, then look at the wires under the cart around the brake peddle ~ There are a few crimp connectors that see way too much water right there... they corrode badly.

You can post Western Questions in the Ezgo Section.... that's basically what you got there, a modified ezgo

These questions must be unnerving for some, but I can't find anything on the search. Does the cart have to be moving for this switch to work? Stopped with the key on, switch pushed in, nothing happens with the brake lights. (sorry scottyb, your post just beat mine by a few seconds, thanks for the reply)
