I recently aquired 3 taylor dunn carts 2 industrial flat decks and 1 t bird that I got running with a variety of parts fr control from an ez go and speed control that came with the cart.The motor and rear end also are stock.The speed control is a series of copper bars with a rotary switch,this system works so-so it sticks sometimes and arks alot.this cart is 36 volts.Im wondering if there is an inexpensive way to change these carts to a better speed control or are there tricks to make these work better. thanks Rod

I,ve heard that electric fork truck/lift controllers can be used in golf carts.does anyone have any knowledge about this?

Gitterdunn, What you are working with is a basic series electric system. So...speed control board from just about any series cart will work if you can figure out how to mount it. I would look into replacing the contact buttons on the speed board before I went into the much more expensive electronic speed controller. Or possibly a speed wiper board from a club car would work. Not sure on this but I would look into it...

The system on that taylor-dunn and a solid state golf cart controller are 2 completely different speed control systems. The taylor-dunn you have sounds like a resistor type system. A solid state forklift controller will more than likely cost more money than a golf car type solid state controller. For the most part as long as its a series style controller and you have the right throttle input type it will work if you can do the modifications. You can use a curtis PB-6 throttle and adapt those pretty easily. There is really inexpensive way to convert to a solid state system unless you already have the parts, know someone or can get them dirt cheap.

There's an older fellow that runs his taylor dunn around our street. He calls the older T/D carts "Old Sparky". Said it was a real commen problem with them. The T/D dealer in Anaheim quoted $189- for a new control bar.

I'm in Chino Hills. We just aquired another T/D from our neighbor. He asid it wouldn't run. I took an emory board to the contacts & it runs fine now. Having fun working on all the carts. We have 5 now, 2 club cars, a cushman, & 2 taylor dunns. I have 23 acres to fly around on, so i enjoy them.
