Curtis controller endoder options or run without
Hi, Im using a curtis 1234 controller.
I had my second brakedown in the encoder. I use a "sensorbearing" to detect rpm/direction. I would like to know if there is an option to run without the sensor, I could not find this looking through te programming station software. Maybe there is a trick to it. Curtis support did not reply to my e-mail yet (has been over a week) The motor is on a boat, the sensorbearing is inside te motor. I'd rather have an alternative to this sensor, and a posability to run sensorless, so we keep in the race. Best regards, Edwin |

Re: Curtis controller endoder options or run without
With my experience with Curtis AC controllers, you need a encoder, well a sensor.
Everyone in the industry is moving towards a cog / sensor like a honeywell sensor. The sensor bearings are much more costly, and expensive to replace. The cog typically goes at the end of the shaft or motor housing, with the sensor just machined in (simple hole) that the sensor plugs into. Easy in, easy out if it ever goes bad. |
