WHAT SHOULD I BUY??? '02 yamaha with 3 year old batteries or '03 EZ GO totally redone
I have the opportunity to buy one of two carts. Either a 2002 Yamaha with three year old batteries in very good condition with fresh paint, head and tail lamps, new seats, 7" lift with new rims and tires or... a 2003 EZ Go totally refurrbed by a pro company, two tone paint, extended top, new Trojan batteries, chrome rims and tires on 7" lift, new two tone seats, chrome brush gards... the whole magilla. The price difference is the Yamaha for $2800 asking and the EZ Go for $3900 asking.
So, lets assume the Yamaha can be purchased for $2500 and the EZ Go for $3,700. We're $1,200 apart but to me, a total novice, it seems the EZ Go is a better deal even though more pricey... Any pros or experts want to comment on this? I'd be very appreciative to have your insites. |

Welcome to BGW.
What about dealer warranty? Trojan batteries are better than anything else. Both sound like good carts. Both major brands. Pick one! |

Scotty, I'm not sure about dealer warranty right now. I assume that theres no one brand between these two that is superior? Is one of them more easy to upgrade or modify or add speed to with the computer so on? Thanks for your opinion; I appreciate it.

There are three major makers. Among the three quality and aftermarket part availability is about the same. However, some say the ezgo is the easiest to work on....But it is a discussion much like the old ford/chevy one...... I might ask the dealer to charge their carts up and then personally check the battery pack with a voltmeter(or have them do it in front of you). Then test drive it up a big hill repeatedly ( if available)....The batteries are the single most expensive disposable component of the cart. It is important to assess their condition. Ask for a battery warranty...Good luck

What is the companying meaning by refurbed?
Are they both same voltage? I've seen where some pro companies called refurb, just going thru and replacing what is worn out. Not what I would think of as a refurb. If it was a true refurb I think they would give you a warranty. My preference would be if no warranty to take the Yamaha put the extra money up and have a lot smoother ride than the ezgo. |
