Seeking ring worm gear from rear differential
Hello fellow enthusiasts:
I want to ask if anyone has a ring worm gear from a rear differential available. Or can point me at one. The cart is a 1970's era Pargo Cub, 36 V, with a triple belt drive. Lack of lubricant caused the ring gear to become damaged. It is marked 814131. The gear is brass, and has 5 15/16" outer diameter 4 3/8" inner 39 teeth Right Hand teeth. Multiple google searches led me to http://www.moffettturf.com/pages/oem...168%2f73080157 But contact with them didn't lead to further information. I got the impression the employee was looking at the same screen I was, and didn't know anything about the part. Regards Rolf |

Re: Seeking ring worm gear from rear differential
A little update. Though my cart was stenciled "Pargo" it now seems that what I actually have is a Cushman Titan. These internets are useful for leaning things.
I got my burned out motor repaired at Mile High Electric in Denver, but the rear differential and specifically the ring gear are proving harder to find. |

Re: Seeking ring worm gear from rear differential
I just saw this, My suggestion would have been to find a more readily available differential and motor and adapt that into the cart.... would have been nice to have converted to Ezgo or something?
Good luck finding the 40 yr old gear.... |

Instead of trying to find the part, you may want to find someone who cuts custom gears. Probably wont be much more than the part.

Re: Seeking ring worm gear from rear differential
Thanks for the quick replies. I have asked for a quote from a local gear manufacturer, to see if that is the most economical way to proceed.
Digging into Craiglist postings today revealed an old Cushman Truckster getting parted out. I am trying to jump on that. There is also an old Ez Go axle with a direct drive 36V motor available. I want to get as heavy a duty axle as I can, as the weight bearing capacity of the Titan is important. |

Re: Seeking ring worm gear from rear differential
I ended up taking the ring and worm gears to G & K Gears in Commerce City Colorado. The worm still had a suitable hardness to it, and enough was left of the brass ring gear to allow buffing it up. So now back together with the rear differential and refurbished motor!
I am also interested in taking out the old resistor coil system and putting in a modern solid state speed controller. |
