ok, so far I have:
2WD Low HP, high torque engine Reliable Electronics - (need advice on this still) What about 36 volt vs 48 volt? Does lifting really do alot for you? Anyone know a good source for parts? thanx again. |

48 v would be good choice, lift would help on tire clearance. As far as source for parts try site sponsers, you get what you pay for.

Go 48 volt with at least a 500 amp Alltrax and good quality 4 gage cables. You pretty much HAVE TO lift it...not gonna do a bit of good in the woods if you don't. You could use a cheaper block lift, keep it around a 4 inch lift with a set of 22" mudbusters, that will be about as cheap as you can lift it for. Call one of the site sponsors. You may be able to work a deal on a few lift kits at a time.

Lift and high amp controller are necessary. I have two carts, one lifted, one stock. The stock one graps every little twig and drags it and I would never try to cross water with it. My lifted cart has a 4" kit on it. My next one will be at least 6", maybe more. You will want atleast 22" tires, 25" would be better. The taller tires help you climb over fallen limbs and also give you more ground clearance.
At least a 400 amp controller and 48 volts and your good to go. If you need more torque, there are several nice aftermarket motors that make your cart climb trees, lol. Don't forget about a rear bed to carry your harvest, fertilizer, etc. And lights, and more lights, winch(moveable from front to rear), camo, etc, etc, etc. Good luck. |

When doing your camo, don't forget to cover those bright colored seats and do away with any shinny wheels altogether. It seems to me counter productive to have a cart camo'd and leave those items unaddressed. The least bit if light reflecting off them will warn the critters and possibly ruin a good day of hunting. I would not reccomend aluminum wheels for going off raod...use steel ones.

This has been very helpful. I just purchased a 1998 electric EZ-GO. I intend to disassemble it and learn the ins/outs. Then re-assemble/upgrade it.
All you suggestions will be incorporated. I will post pictures asap. Any more input will be appreciated. Grid |
