Another Newbie
I am new to this forum and need help getting started on electrifying a special buggy that I created for the Artist's Soapbox Derby. The Derby is over and now I want to ride this buggy in parades etc. I want to use an electric transaxle to power the rear wheels which are wheelchair wheels and found something on ebay but I am not sure if it the correct thing. I want to make it run up to 25 mph (load weight including me and buggy will be around 300lb.)
The motor specs are as follows 24 Volt, 800 Watt, 5200 RPM, 45.6 Amp, permanent-magnet motor. Gear Ratio: 20:1 Does anyone know if this will power my machine correctly? See more photos at http://wavedog.com/wheeler |

Re: Another Newbie
Howdy, although I do like your cart there seems to be a few things to ask. It sounds like the motor you have may take some pretty exotic control equipment. Given the motor speed, gear reduction and (guessing at the wheelsize) somewhere near not fast enough (3-4 mph) and a quickly dwindling battery. Are yuo planning on chain drive or replacing the rear axle withs some sort of differential?. Anyhoo looks like a fun project. Welcome to the forum. Randy
