Default Cushman Cart wiring issue

Hello i am looking to see if anyone could help me find a wiring spec for a Cushman 898370. i am not having much luck. the biggest problem that i am having right now is with the batteries. the person i bought it for took the battery wiring off and never replaced them. i am not sure how to hook them back up. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Talking Re: Cushman Cart wiring issue

Welcome to the forum, check the stickys on this site or go www.vintagegolfcartparts.com. They have some schematics for early resistor carts but I'm fairly sure the battery set-up is the same. Good luck. Randy

Batteries should run positive to negative ( 6x6= 36 volts, 6x8=48volts), the reversing is done at the F/R switch by changing the polarity in the field winding. Try to shoot pics and post them. Is it resisto speed control or electronic (black box)?

I got it running in reverse, but something overheated and that stopped all together. I am still working on things but I got reassigned at work to midnights, so I have been sleeping most of the time.

Nick, how goes the cushman? I still haven't seen any diagrams that are any better than the one you posted. I've tried to get the thing cleaned up but I'm barely able to use this computater as it is, keep on keepin' on. Randy

Nick, I too bought a cart not wired. Local golf course maintenance guys and auto repair shops were no help on old Cushman. I could not find any info on Internet either. I spent a month re-wiring my 1965 3-wheel Model 732 Cushman golf cart and figuring out the wiring hookups, batteries, solenoid, speed control etc.. I now have developed a wiring diagram. I paid a local electric motor repair shop for a similar diagram that I tweeked to make my cart work. I now have it working like new with 3 - 12 volt Trojan batteries, wired in series, ignition switch, speed control etc..
