Default 1hp for 1500lb?

Hi, if I want to use a 1hp buggy to move 1,500lbs gross at 8mph top speed will this be possible to do easily enough?

Theoretically 1,500lbs can be accelerated to 8mph in about 3.5s with 1hp, but even under ideal conditions losses would be expected.

So under perfect flat and ideal conditions what would you experts reckon in general the performance would be for a 1hp buggy with a 1500lb weight?

Sorry but I don't have any more details at the moment so it's just a general inquiry.

Thanks.

Welcome! If its' electric,I can understand the theory, since Electric makes alot of instant-torque,and it takes alot less Electric-HP than Gas-HP to do the same job.I think(not definite)that most of the electric carts are closer to 2-3hp.I'm sure some of the electric-guys will add to this.

right...wont do it with flat tires! I think 8mph would be kinda boring! I wonder if that math works for 20HP? You can find some calculation pages on line. Just fill in your numbers. easy!

This almost sounds like a Technical Science or Engineering Project. And if I had to ride it at 8mph,I'd find a rope to hang myself!!My Dads' first cart was so slow,I wouldn't even ride on it from the house to the shop,i'd walk!
