Cushman power problem
I posted this in another thread, but I didn't give a good description of what I was looking for in the title. So I apologize for that. I have a old cushman cart with a 36v system. The batteries are good, the wiring is all new. We went through the motor and all is good there. We hooked the motor up direct to the batteries to test it and it went like hell. The problem lies in power. It will move and drive, but the cart doesn't have any power. Also the resistor coils are heating up really bad. There are no cracks or breaks in them. And the selenoid is good. Any suggestions or things to look for?

Re: Cushman power problem
The solenoids may operate (click) but if they are the originals the contact surfaces could be pitted or burned. Disconnect the motor lead and energize the solenoid the use your ohm meter to check the resistance across the heavy connections. If it is high, the motor can't get enough current and will run slow, you may also want to check the connetion surface on the resistors... same theory applies. They are high current low resistance wires and even a little bit of corrosion and change their resistive value. Hope ths helps.
