Anyone know what these are
http://www.sonicperfection.com/coupleoldcarts/
Ok, I know one of them is an old Harley, but I don't think I've ever seen the other one. It looks like it says Tee Bird on the front. The guy that has it said he thinks it was built by "Tee Time"? Any value to these? The harley looks in decent shape for a junkyard cart, but he said neither of them run or anything, he knows the tee bird is electric, but he doesn't know about the harley. He didn't say what he wants for them, but I might email and see if I can go take a look, and find out what he wants. If he'll give them up cheap, might be another pair of projects to play with, or sell to someone else (or part out). Any suggestions, values, etc.? Worth my effort, headaches, and travel to fetch them (probably a 45 minute drive to where they are)? I imagine the harley has some value just in the fact that it's a classic, and the body is in exceptional shape. |

Re: Anyone know what these are
He doesn't seem to know much about them actually. He said he didn't even know if it was electric or gas. However, being a junkyard (from the looks of the background), he may know something more than he's letting on, OR he may know that there is even some scrap value to them which may be beyond what I would initially offer him.
What's that old Harley worth you think (pm me with it instead of posting here, so he doesn't see it if he's researching). LOL |

Re: Anyone know what these are
I could not put a value on it without knowing if the engine bay is complete, or if the cart is even runable. But if she's a runner, and you are patient with the frame-off restoration and paint, I think the market would support a decent return.
ps: They look real good in Black/Orange! |

Re: Anyone know what these are
After seeing mtwalets' harley build it kind of made me want one.
I have patience and all the time in the world basically, just not all the money in the world to go along with it. I've been whining about prices on various things, and here I am wanting to get MORE of them... LOL I figure if it's something I can turn a profit on, then it's worth it. |

Re: Anyone know what these are
Hmm, so I could get that one and post in the "who has the oldest cart" thread, and probably have the oldest, provided it is one of the early ones. LOL
Thanks. |

Re: Anyone know what these are
Anyone have any input on what they might be worth, or what I should offer? I emailed him back and asked him what he was looking to get, and he said he hadn't really given it any thought on how much they're worth or how much to ask, and asked if I could tell him what I think they're worth.
I was going to offer him $50-75 each as "parts", just to see if he bites or not. I know that's probably pretty lowball on the harley especially, but being non-runners, etc., and based on what I've been paying for carts both dead and working, figured it was a fair starting point. I don't think I want to make the offer via email though, I think I'll drive out and look at them in person, and then make an offer after I see what's left of them. Maybe tell him $100 for the harley, and $50 for the taylor dunn since they both are going to need quite a bit of work. Did I mention I can be a cheapskate? ;) PGGROVES, do you know if that Taylor Dunn is one of the models that used the ford 8 or 9" rear ends? I have an 8" rear end here that I think came out of a TD, so figuring I might have some extra parts for it already... |

Re: Anyone know what these are
I wouldn't offer over $100.00 on both of them. I gave a $100.00 for a 1971 Harley 3 wheelier. I have $300.00 worth of new parts for it if your interested in it. I bought the manuals for it new starter rebuild kit for carb. I got everything you need to make it run. It's gas by the way.

Re: Anyone know what these are
Thanks for the info Andy4639.
I'm going out to look at them in a couple hours, and will see how complete things are. I'm pretty sure they will both be intact as far as running gear, etc. goes, just minor stuff like tops, seats, etc. are damaged or missing from the looks of the pictures. I'm hoping they just want them out of the yard, and will take $50 each, or if not I'll offer a little more on JUST the harley and see if he bites. The fact that these are at a salvage yard, I would think they'd have some idea of what they'd want, but apparently the son of the owner is selling them. Hoping he just doesn't care much. Unfortunately they have some other things I might want, so I hope I don't HURT MYSELF out there... I'll keep you guys posted. |
